Coinbase has expanded its stock and ETF trading services by allowing US customers to transfer existing investment portfolios from other brokerages onto its platform.
The update builds on the company's stock and ETF offering launched earlier this year, which initially provided access to approximately 6,000 securities.
A Coinbase spokesperson said users will be able to transfer securities and cash through the Automated Customer Account Transfer Service without selling their holdings.
The company is also offering commission-free trading, TradingView charting tools, fractional share investing and rewards of up to 3.5% on eligible USD Coin balances.
Coinbase said additional products including crypto and stock options, thematic equity index perpetual futures, pre-IPO perpetuals and prediction markets are planned for future rollout; following the announcement the Coinbase share price was not disclosed.
The expansion increases Coinbase’s competition with brokerage and fintech platforms by allowing users to manage stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies through a single account.
Coinbase has continued diversifying beyond digital asset trading after reporting a first-quarter 2026 loss of US$1.49 per share on revenue of US$1.41 billion, compared with analyst expectations for earnings of US$0.27 per share on revenue of US$1.52 billion.
