A White House meeting involving administration officials, lawmakers and law enforcement organisations has highlighted a potential path forward for the CLARITY Act as supporters seek a Senate vote before the August recess.

The discussion focused heavily on the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act, a key component of the broader crypto market structure legislation, as well as measures to improve crypto crime reporting and enforcement.

Said journalist Eleanor Terrett, who reported on the meeting.

The gathering was hosted by President Donald Trump's crypto adviser Patrick Witt and the White House Crypto Council at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, with attendees including House Majority Whip Tom Emmer and White House AI and crypto adviser David Sacks.

Representatives from major law enforcement organisations, including the Fraternal Order of Police, the National Association of Police Organisations and the International Association of Chiefs of Police, also participated in the discussions.

According to Terrett, the key issue may be whether law enforcement groups signal to Democratic senators such as Catherine Cortez Masto and Mark Warner that they do not oppose the bill's provisions, including the BRCA.

Supporters believe securing backing from enough Democrats will be critical because Republicans alone lack the votes needed to advance the legislation, while Senator Cynthia Lummis has indicated she expects the bill could reach the Senate floor before lawmakers break for August.
