Key points

  • Circle and ACI Worldwide are collaborating to bring USDC settlement to existing payments infrastructure across Latin America.
  • The integration connects stablecoin settlement with ACI’s payment processing technology used by financial institutions and businesses.
  • The partnership aims to help payment providers settle transactions using USDC without replacing existing payment systems.

ACI Worldwide (NASDAQ:ACIW) and Circle Internet Group (NYSE:CRCL) are piloting USDC settlement through existing payment infrastructure in Colombia.

The initiative uses ACI Connetic to connect stablecoin settlement with Colombia’s Bre-B instant payments ecosystem.

“The conversation around stablecoins is moving from possibility to practicality,” said ACI Worldwide Global Head of Account-to-Account Payments Craig Ramsey.

The pilot explores how financial institutions can settle transactions using USDC alongside traditional payment rails and existing banking operations.

“Financial institutions across Latin America are increasingly looking at how stablecoins can support the evolution of payments and settlement within the infrastructure they already use,” said Circle Chief Commercial Officer Kash Razzaghi.

ACI Connetic combines traditional payments, digital assets and card payments within one cloud-based platform for financial institutions.

The collaboration will help institutions assess stablecoin settlement within existing payment workflows, governance frameworks and operational controls.

The initiative gives financial institutions in Colombia a route to test USDC settlement without replacing their existing payment infrastructure.
