Brazilian Federal Police arrested two funk singers as part of Operation Narco Fluxo targeting a cryptocurrency laundering network that processed more than $320 million.

The operation spanned eight states and dismantled a large-scale scheme allegedly used to move illicit funds through digital assets, with authorities also seizing assets that may be used to compensate victims.

MC Ryan SP and MC Poze do Rodo were among those detained, with suspects expected to face charges including money laundering, criminal association and tax evasion.

The crackdown highlights Brazil’s escalating efforts to combat crypto-related crime, particularly networks linked to organised criminal activity using digital assets to obscure fund flows.

Authorities indicated the operation focused on dismantling financial infrastructure supporting illegal activity, rather than just targeting individuals, signalling a broader enforcement strategy.

In November, former finance minister Fernando Haddad said Brazil would intensify efforts to track illicit crypto transactions using federal tax authorities and financial monitoring tools.

The latest arrests underscore growing global scrutiny of cryptocurrency misuse as regulators and law enforcement agencies step up actions against large-scale laundering operations.
