Blur to close marketplace interface as NFT volumes fall
- Blur plans to shut its website interface and stop new loan matching on Blend on 12 November 2026.
- Monthly NFT trading volume fell from US$1.43 billion in March 2023 to below US$7 million in March 2026.
- The move affects Blur’s user-facing services, while its underlying on-chain marketplace protocol remains operational.
Blur plans to close its marketplace interface and halt new loan matching on Blend on 12 November 2026, following a prolonged decline in NFT trading activity.
The closure marks a retreat for Blur, which once ranked among Ethereum’s largest NFT marketplaces by trading volume.
“Blend will stop matching new loans on November 12, 2026,” Blur said in a post on X.
Monthly trading volume dropped from US$1.43 billion in March 2023 to less than US$7 million in March 2026, highlighting the contraction in activity.
Borrowers using Blend must repay outstanding loans by the deadline or face default, with withdrawal tools planned afterwards.
The planned closure applies to Blur’s website interface and Blend’s loan-matching service, while the underlying marketplace protocol is expected to remain available on-chain.
Blur’s BLUR token remains linked to the protocol’s governance and fee-switch mechanisms, although the closure could affect activity across its ecosystem.
Following the update, BLUR was trading down 27.9% at $0.01359.
