Blockchain.com files confidentially for US IPO

Share

Blockchain.com confidentially submitted paperwork to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed US initial public offering, becoming the latest crypto firm pursuing a public listing.

The company said it filed a draft S-1 registration statement related to a proposed offering of Class A ordinary shares, though pricing details and the number of shares to be sold have not yet been determined.

Blockchain.com said the IPO remains subject to market conditions and SEC review, with confidential filings allowing companies to receive regulatory feedback before publicly disclosing financial details.

Founded in 2011, Blockchain.com said it has more than 95 million wallets, over 43 million verified users and has processed more than $1.1 trillion in cryptocurrency transactions across its retail and institutional products.

The filing follows recent expansion efforts by the company, including a push into African markets and the rollout of perpetual futures trading through its self-custodial wallet using the Hyperliquid protocol.

The IPO move comes amid shifting public market plans across the crypto industry, with companies including Backpack Exchange, Copper and Kraken reassessing or delaying listing ambitions due to changing market conditions.

Meanwhile, BitGo completed one of the sector’s largest IPOs earlier this year, though its shares have since fallen sharply alongside the broader downturn in cryptocurrency markets.
