BlackRock XRP ETF speculation grows on XRPL interest

  • Digital Ascension Group Chairman Jake Claver said he expects BlackRock to file for a spot XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) exchange-traded fund.
  • Claver also predicted higher XRP prices, arguing that broader institutional use of the XRP Ledger could drive adoption.
  • His comments follow reports of interest from major financial firms in XRPL-based tokenisation and settlement infrastructure.

XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) could attract a spot exchange-traded fund application from BlackRock, according to Digital Ascension Group Chairman Jake Claver, who linked the possibility to growing institutional interest in the XRP Ledger.

Claver's comments come as BlackRock continues expanding its digital asset offerings, with the asset manager preparing to launch a Bitcoin-focused income ETF while several financial institutions explore blockchain-based settlement and tokenisation initiatives.

“I think that we could see a BlackRock ETF,” said Digital Ascension Group Chairman Jake Claver.

Claver said he expects significant adoption of the XRP Ledger in the coming months and believes XRP may need a substantially higher price before it can be used at scale for institutional settlement functions, while analyst Ali Martinez has forecast a potential breakout above US$1.30.

The remarks add to ongoing speculation around XRP's role in institutional finance, although BlackRock has not announced plans to file for a spot XRP ETF, and following the comments XRP was unchanged at US$0.00.

Earlier this year, XRPL Commons director Odelia Torteman said companies including BlackRock, Mastercard and Franklin Templeton had shown interest in the XRP Ledger because of its cross-asset payment capabilities and features designed for regulated financial institutions.

Ripple has expanded the XRP Ledger ecosystem through several partnerships since 2025, including tokenised lending projects with Franklin Templeton and DBS, BUIDL fund integrations through Securitize, and a Mastercard pilot using RLUSD settlements on the XRP Ledger alongside Gemini.

At the time of reporting, XRP price was $1.22.
