BitGo selected Chainlink (CRYPTO:LINK) CCIP for US$7.3 billion in Wrapped Bitcoin (CRYPTO:WBTC) cross-chain transfers.
The move replaces LayerZero (CRYPTO:ZRO) and lifts announced migrations to Chainlink infrastructure to roughly US$14.6 billion.
BitGo said the change lets it control WBTC contracts, transfer limits and operational settings instead of relying on an external bridge.
The company plans to use Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Token standard and CCIP by default for future digital assets it issues.
Neither BitGo nor Chainlink disclosed when the WBTC migration across all supported blockchain networks will be completed.
BitGo adopted LayerZero in 2024 to expand WBTC onto Avalanche (CRYPTO:AVAX) and BNB Chain (CRYPTO:BNB).
The switch follows several migrations after a US$292 million exploit involving Kelp DAO’s LayerZero-powered bridge earlier this year.
At the time of reporting, Chainlink price was $8.15.
BitGo launched BitGo Link on 3 August, centralising institutional assets held across its custody platform and connected exchanges.
