Bitget will discontinue services for selected users in a one-off exercise while continuing to operate its cryptocurrency trading platform.

The October 17 announcement did not specify how many users would lose access to Bitget’s services or explain the criteria for selecting affected accounts.

ā€œWhile the Bitget platform continues to operate, we have made the decision to discontinue services for certain users,ā€ Bitget said in a post on X.

Affected customers will receive email, in-app or push notifications explaining the required steps, applicable deadlines and arrangements for withdrawing their assets.

Bitget’s customer support team will assist affected users with pending orders, withdrawals and account-related queries, while the exchange has also warned users to watch for phishing attempts and impersonation accounts.

The announcement comes amid ongoing scrutiny of centralised exchanges over account access, platform security and customer asset withdrawals, although Bitget has not linked this decision to any specific security incident.

Users affected by the change should rely on official Bitget communications to confirm their account status, withdrawal requirements and applicable deadlines.

Following the update, Bitget Token (BGB) was trading down 0.9% at $1.86.
