Bitcoin Japan backs SpaceX before IPO
Bitcoin Japan Corporation invested in SpaceX through a private secondary market transaction as the Tokyo-listed firm expands into AI infrastructure and digital connectivity investments ahead of SpaceX’s planned IPO.
The company said the investment was made through its wholly owned US subsidiary BTCJPN US LLC using a Special Purpose Vehicle managed by a registered US general partner.
“The global structural trends surrounding AI infrastructure, AI compute infrastructure, data connectivity, and related digital infrastructure represent what we believe to be significant long-term investment opportunities,”
Said Bitcoin Japan representative director and CEO, Phillip Lord.
Bitcoin Japan said the investment fits its strategy of targeting sectors linked to AI compute capacity, satellite communications, data centres and next-generation digital infrastructure.
SpaceX currently operates launch systems and the Starlink satellite network while also expanding into AI infrastructure and compute-related operations tied to rising global demand for connectivity and data processing.
Interest in SpaceX has intensified across crypto and financial markets following reports that the company holds about 18,712 Bitcoin and may seek a valuation between $1.75 trillion and $2 trillion in a future Nasdaq listing.
Crypto exchanges including Bitget and Bybit have already launched SpaceX-linked perpetual contracts ahead of any official IPO pricing as traders seek exposure to market expectations surrounding the listing.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $74,384.38.
