  • Bitcoin remained near US$64,000 after US-Iran negotiations in Switzerland broke down over the weekend.
  • The collapse of talks renewed concerns about oil supply risks linked to the Strait of Hormuz and broader market volatility.
  • Traders are watching Monday market openings for signs of a wider risk-off reaction across cryptocurrencies and traditional assets.

Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) traded near US$64,000 after negotiations between the United States and Iran reportedly broke down in Switzerland, raising concerns about geopolitical risks and global markets.

The talks had been aimed at extending a June 17 truce, but reports indicated Iran's delegation left the discussions following disagreements over regional security issues and comments from US President Donald Trump.

“If there isn’t a massive Black Monday Crash tomorrow, I will delete my account,” said a cryptocurrency market participant in a social media post reflecting broader market concerns.

The breakdown in negotiations renewed attention on the Strait of Hormuz, a shipping route that handles about 20 million barrels of oil per day, or roughly 20% of global oil consumption.

Market participants are assessing whether renewed tensions could trigger a broader selloff in risk assets, although Bitcoin remained near US$64,181 and Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) traded near US$1,730 during weekend trading; following the developments Bitcoin was little changed near US$64,000.

Earlier this month, Bitcoin and other digital assets experienced sharp volatility after hostilities involving Iran and Israel intensified, leading to more than US$1 billion in liquidations across cryptocurrency markets.

Traders are now focused on oil prices, futures markets and any further statements from Washington or Tehran as they evaluate whether negotiations will resume or tensions will escalate further.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $63,869.00.
