Binance has finalised a $1 billion conversion of its Secure Asset Fund for Users into bitcoin, bringing total reserves to 15,000 BTC.

The global crypto exchange confirmed on 12 February via X that the transition of its SAFU stablecoin reserves into bitcoin had been fully completed.

"Binance has successfully completed the final tranche purchase of 4,545 BTC, finalising the $1 billion transition of SAFU stablecoin reserves into bitcoin,"

Binance said.

"SAFU now holds 15,000 BTC, worth $1,005,000,000 USD at the time of completion calculated at a BTC price of $67,000,"
"With SAFU Fund now fully in bitcoin, we reinforce our belief in BTC as the premier long-term reserve asset. Thank you for your continued trust and support. We remain committed to transparency and security,"

The exchange noted that an earlier batch of bitcoin purchases had already been completed earlier this month as part of the staged conversion.

SAFU, which stands for Secure Asset Fund for Users, operates as an emergency reserve designed to safeguard customers during extreme events such as cyber breaches or major market shocks.

Binance disclosed that the full transition from USDC to bitcoin was executed within 30 days of its initial announcement.

The company also published the SAFU bitcoin wallet address and the latest transaction ID to allow public on-chain verification.

Before the reallocation, the SAFU wallet held approximately $1 billion in USDC stablecoins.

Binance linked the shift to its broader risk management framework and long-term resilience planning.

The exchange signalled that bitcoin will now serve as the core reserve asset within its emergency protection structure.

The decision reflects increasing institutional confidence in bitcoin’s liquidity and durability compared with dollar-pegged tokens.

By placing the entire SAFU fund into bitcoin, Binance has strengthened its alignment with the narrative of BTC as a treasury-grade reserve asset.

The publication of wallet details underscores the platform’s continued focus on transparency and verifiable proof-of-reserves standards.

The announcement arrives amid wider industry debate over custodial safeguards, treasury management practices and the long-term security of customer funds across crypto exchanges.
