Arkham published what it described as a public onchain map linking two OFAC-sanctioned Tron wallets to Iran’s central bank following a $344 million USDT freeze tied to US sanctions enforcement.

The wallet map makes the addresses publicly searchable for investigators and analysts as US authorities intensify scrutiny of Iranian-linked stablecoin activity connected to terrorism financing and oil revenue networks.

The map is based on two TRC-20 wallets added to the US Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctions list on April 24 as property of Bank Markazi Jomhouri Islami Iran, with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent saying the action aimed to “systematically degrade Tehran’s ability to generate, move, and repatriate funds.”

Tether separately confirmed it froze the funds at the request of US authorities over “activity tied to unlawful conduct,” while declining to directly identify Iran in its public statement.

Arkham said the wallet explorer could help trace counterparties and transaction flows tied to Iranian-linked entities using blockchain infrastructure associated with Tron and Tether.

Chainalysis previously described a multi-step stablecoin pipeline allegedly routing Iranian oil revenues through brokers, intermediary wallets, cross-chain bridges and decentralised finance protocols before funds cycled back into accounts linked to the Central Bank of Iran and IRGC-affiliated entities.

The findings add to broader scrutiny of Iran’s crypto activity after estimates from TRM Labs and Chainalysis placed the country’s crypto transaction volume at about $11.4 billion in 2024, while Iranian exchange Nobitex was reportedly linked to offshore liquidity channels tied to politically connected figures.
