Animoca Brands suspends planned reverse merger deal

  • Animoca Brands announced the mutual suspension of discussions regarding its proposed reverse merger with Currenc Group Inc (NASDAQ:CURR).
  • The transaction had originally been unveiled to public markets on November 3, 2025.
  • Leadership cited mismatched closing timelines and shifting strategic goals as primary drivers for the pause.

Animoca Brands has suspended ongoing discussions regarding its proposed reverse merger transaction with Currenc Group Inc (NASDAQ:CURR).

Both corporate entities reviewed projected closing schedules and evolving market conditions before concluding that the interim timeline failed to align with their strategic objectives.

“While we hold our proposed merger with Currenc Group in high regard, our corporate agility must take precedence,” said Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Yat Siu.

The decision allows management to maintain operational flexibility while pursuing alternative pathways toward a public exchange listing.

“Today, we affirm our focus from a position of significant operational strength, an unmatched digital assets and AI portfolio, and a concerted drive to achieve our compliance milestones,” said Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Yat Siu.

The digital asset pioneer continues progressing through comprehensive audit milestones, including releasing its fiscal year 2023 financial statements earlier in the year.

Corporate leadership noted that discussions could potentially resume if future market conditions permit.
