A Tennessee man accused of stealing more than $11 million worth of XRP from the widow of country music legend George Jones has filed a countersuit.
Kirk West, a Nashville resident, claims he is entitled to part of the disputed assets after making what he described as successful crypto investments.
West was arrested last year over allegations he took more than 5.5 million XRP tokens and $400,000 in cash from Nancy Jones.
Made numerous wise investments over the course of the parties’ relationship which built substantial wealth for them.
He said denying theft allegations.
Court filings allege West encouraged Jones to invest heavily in cryptocurrencies during their relationship.
The disputed assets include XRP holdings, other cryptocurrencies, precious metals and cash, according to court records.
Jones recovered more than 5 million XRP tokens with legal assistance, but roughly 483,000 XRP remains missing.
West is seeking half of the crypto assets, as well as claims to gold, silver and cash linked to the relationship.
The countersuit marks the first major court update since subpoenas were filed late last year.
At the time of reporting, XRP price was $2.16.
