Aave proposes emergency powers for risk stewards
- Aave (CRYPTO:AAVE) voters are considering new emergency powers for Risk Stewards on Ethereum and Avalanche.
- The roles could freeze markets quickly, but the current software cannot use those emergency tools.
- The proposal has also raised questions about public reporting and oversight of delegated powers.
Aave (CRYPTO:AAVE) has proposed giving Risk Stewards limited control over Aave V4 risk settings.
The proposal covers Aave V4 deployments on Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) and Avalanche (CRYPTO:AVAX), with fixed limits on how much settings can change.
The emergency roles could halt assets or freeze reserves without an execution delay, but the current release cannot use these functions.
Instead, those emergency permissions would remain inactive until a later Risk Steward release adds the required support.
The proposal also sets waiting periods of 36, 48 or 72 hours for different routine risk changes, with limits on each adjustment.
Some Aave community members have asked for public explanations, action reports and regular reviews of Risk Steward activity.
A successful Snapshot vote would still need execution through the Aave V4 Security Council, while the proposed Risk Steward contracts were undergoing a Certora audit.
At the time of reporting, Aave price was $133.35.
