Zip resolves Firstmac legal dispute over local branding

Share

Australian buy-now-pay-later provider Zip Co (ASX:ZIP) has secured the ongoing use of its brand name locally after reaching a settlement agreement with Firstmac.

Under the terms of the deal, Zip will officially acquire the registered Australian trademark (No. 1021128) for 'ZIP', resolving an ongoing legal dispute between the two companies.

While the financial details of the settlement remain confidential, Zip confirmed that the payout amount is not material to the group and will not impact its FY26 financial guidance.

The company also noted that its operations and branding in the United States and New Zealand remain completely unaffected by the agreement, and it faces no further liabilities or damages regarding Firstmac's proceedings.
