
Yancoal Australia reports $3.02B half-year revenue

- Operating EBITDA increased 29% to $767 million, while net profit after tax dropped 90% due to non-cash items.
- The company expects higher full-year production and plans to fund its US$1.85 billion Kestrel acquisition through cash and debt.
Yancoal Australia (ASX:YAL) reported a 13% increase in first-half revenue to $3.02 billion driven by higher sales volumes.
While operating profit rose 42% to $328 million, profit after tax fell 90% due to non-operating accounting items.
“Despite the higher diesel costs, our cash operating costs were just 3% higher than in H1 2025, and we expect to keep them within the guidance range,” said Yancoal CEO Sharif Burra.
ROM coal production inched up to 32.5 million tonnes, while saleable production climbed to 25.7 million tonnes.
The company stated that non-operating costs totalled $272 million, including $188 million from foreign currency loan accounting.
Following the announcement, the Yancoal Australia share price was up at $5.87.
Yancoal held $2.1 billion in cash on June 30 to help fund its US$1.85 billion Kestrelmine acquisition.
Management reduced 2026 capital guidance to $600-$750 million and declared an interim dividend of $0.07 per share.
