Webjet Group (ASX:WJL) has formalised the departure of its managing director and CEO, Katrina Barry, following her resignation announcement earlier this year.

Barry will step down from her executive roles and the board on May 31.

To ensure a smooth transition, the company has entered into a consultancy agreement with Barry for post-departure support.

Interim Chair Dr Gary Weiss praised her two-year tenure, highlighting her leadership during the company’s pivotal demerger, its subsequent ASX listing, and the formulation of its new Strategic Growth Plan.

Taking the helm during this interim period is Layton Shannos, who has been appointed acting CEO effective June 1.

Shannos brings substantial internal expertise to the role, having spent over 12 years at Webjet.

His previous responsibilities include serving as CFO of Webjet OTA and, most recently, spending two years as the group CFO following the company's demerger. Prior to his tenure at Webjet, which began in 2013, Shannos spent four years at KPMG.

The board expressed strong confidence that his extensive financial and operational background will guarantee leadership continuity.

Meanwhile, Webjet has confirmed that the search for a permanent successor is underway.

At the time of reporting, Webjet Group’s share price was $0.42.
