Viking Mines (ASX:VKA) has reported high-grade tungsten oxide assay results from four metallurgical samples collected from its Linka Tungsten Project in Nevada, USA.
The 58kg sample from the Linka open pit returned the highest grade of 1.3% WO₃, while the weighted average across all four samples was 1.0% WO₃, confirming the high-grade nature of scheelite mineralisation at the site.
Managing Director and CEO Julian Woodcock said, "Achieving a head-grade of 1.3% WO₃ is a significant outcome and validates the high grades observed in historical sampling from the 1950s. With global mines operating at grades as low as 0.2% WO₃, these results highlight the Linka Project’s strong potential."
Sighter metallurgical testwork has now commenced to develop a process flowsheet for producing scheelite concentrate.
The results come at a time of record tungsten prices, with scheelite concentrates (25–30% WO₃) currently trading at US$937 per metric tonne unit, reinforcing the strategic timing of the project.
The Linka Project is one of six US-based tungsten assets currently being acquired by Viking, with ongoing work including high-resolution aerial surveys, geophysical studies, historical data compilation, and drill planning to support permitting.
At the time of reporting, Viking Mines' share price was $0.0090.
