Triton Minerals (ASX:TON) announced a breakthrough at its Aucu Gold-Copper Project in Mozambique's Tete Province, confirming the presence of an active gold mineralising system following its maiden reverse circulation drilling and surface sampling programme.

The exploration results indicate that the gold mineralisation is part of a broad, fertile hydrothermal system rather than an isolated occurrence, suggesting substantial scale potential across multiple targets.

Key highlights from the programme include high-grade surface results peaking at 2.78 g/t Au, complemented by notable drill intercepts such as 2m @ 0.80 g/t Au from 47m in hole ZMC019.

Beyond gold, laboratory XRF analysis has identified anomalous copper values and critical pathfinder geochemistry, including arsenic and antimony.

The polymetallic signatures provide strong evidence of a complex, large-scale geological structure with both surface and subsurface expressions.

While the preliminary XRF data is considered semi-quantitative, Triton is moving quickly to validate these findings through conventional laboratory assays.

The company’s interpretation of the current dataset suggests that the mineralisation is governed by clear structural controls and a favourable geochemical signature, providing a robust "clear pathway" for follow-up exploration.

With multiple mineralised zones now identified, Triton plans to implement systematic programmes to further define the project’s boundaries.

The maiden campaign marks a pivotal shift for the Aucu Project, transitioning it from early-stage reconnaissance into a high-priority exploration asset within the company's portfolio.
