Treasury Wine reduces glass packaging by 5000 tonnes
- Treasury Wine Estates reduced glass usage by 5,000 tonnes during the 2025–26 financial period.
- The company redesign shaved 1,200 tonnes from its premium Penfolds bottle range alone.
- The weight reduction aligns with a broader corporate strategy to streamline its brand portfolio.
Treasury Wine Estates (ASX:TWE) confirmed it cut total glass packaging by 5,000 tonnes in a sustainability report.
The reduction reflects an ongoing supply chain optimisation effort following previous operations that used heavier standard packaging across its global operations.
“Several proprietary bottles across the Penfolds portfolio were redesigned to be lighter in weight while maintaining the brand’s luxury presentation,” the company said in a statement.
The redesign of the luxury Penfolds bottles delivered 1,200 tonnes of the total packaging drop.
Management expects the lighter packaging initiative to support broader operational efficiency targets across its international distribution footprint.
Following the announcement, the Treasury Wine Estates share price was up at $5.66.
CEO Sam Fischer is leading a major portfolio consolidation strategy to focus resources on core premium lines.
The group intends to halve its current product lineup from 75 brands to improve overall operational margins.
