Transurban Group completes M7 Project, exits Canada

Transurban Group (ASX:TCL) completed its M7-M12 Integration Project in New South Wales while concurrently executing a clean exit from its Canadian operations.

The company announced that the newly constructed M7-M12 Interchange opened to traffic on Sunday, following the completion of the major M7 widening component last month.

Delivering an additional lane in each direction across a critical 26-kilometre stretch between Prestons and Oakhurst, the expansion provides a direct link to the new Western Sydney Airport and boosts regional capacity by up to 30,000 vehicles daily.

Transurban CEO Michelle Jablko highlighted immediate, tangible benefits for hundreds of thousands of daily commuters, noting that typical peak-hour trips between Marsden Park and Liverpool have been slashed by up to 13 minutes, saving motorists up to 27 minutes compared to non-tolled alternatives.

The group has finalised a divestment strategy in North America, entering an agreement with La Caisse to sell its remaining 50% interest in Montreal's A25 concession via Concession A25 Limited Partnership. Scheduled for financial close by the end of June, the transaction will yield gross consideration of CAD 280 million, matching its carrying asset value and historical sale metrics.

Transurban's existing Montreal staff will transition to the new ownership, while the liquid proceeds are earmarked to support upcoming growth initiatives within the Greater Washington Area.
