Tivan achieves historic Australian fluorspar breakthrough
Tivan (ASX:TVN) completed a pioneering mini-pilot programme at ALS Metallurgy in Balcatta, Western Australia, marking an Australian first for acidgrade fluorspar production.
The trial, conducted for the Speewah Fluorite Project, produced approximately 195 kg of premium-quality acidspar concentrate.
The output achieved a calculated average fluorite grade of 98.6% CaF_2, exceeding the standard market product benchmark specification of 97.0% CaF_2.
The technical breakthrough confirms that the Speewah project can reliably deliver high-grade commercial material suitable for critical industrial applications, including hydrofluoric acid production.
Following these excellent results, Tivan and its joint venture partner, Sumitomo Corporation, are arranging the global distribution of product samples to up to 14 prospective end users, with a primary commercial emphasis on Japanese customers.
The samples will also undergo crucial advanced testwork to support the project's ongoing definitive feasibility study.
The success of the initial phase has paved the way for a comprehensive, full piloting programme scheduled for later this year.
The upcoming continuous 24-hour operation will focus on validating a distinct set of technical outcomes whilst processing a substantially larger quantity of sample material.
Tivan is currently progressing the Speewah definitive feasibility study in collaboration with Sumitomo Corporation and the Japan Organisation for Metals and Energy Security via their special purpose subsidiary, Japan Fluorite Corporation, aiming to establish a historic mining and processing footprint.
At the time of reporting, Tivan's share price was $0.31.
