Temple & Webster (ASX:TPW), an Australian online furniture and homewares retailer, has announced a leadership transition set to take effect from July 1.
Co-founder and current CEO, Mark Coulter, will transition into the role of executive chair, while former company executive Susie Sugden returns to lead the digital giant as its next CEO.
In his new capacity as executive chair, Coulter will shift his focus towards high-level strategy, capital allocation, and corporate development.
He will also oversee board chair duties and provide direct mentorship to Sugden to ensure a seamless leadership handover.
Reflecting on the company’s trajectory, Coulter noted that after navigating the challenges of market turbulence and global pandemics, the business has successfully matured into a dominant e-commerce platform.
He expressed that bringing Sugden back into the fold provides the operational capacity required to scale the business toward its goal of becoming Australia’s largest furniture retailer.
Sugden’s appointment marks a high-profile return to the group, where she previously served as chief commercial officer and chief marketing officer between 2016 and 2020.
Her interim career has further solidified her reputation as a powerhouse in the Australian corporate sector, having served as CEO of global sleepwear brand Love To Dream and, most recently, as managing director at Genesis Capital.
