Superannuation assets grow to $4.8 trillion in June quarter

Australia’s total superannuation assets grew 6.6% over the June quarter to hit $4.8 trillion, driven by expanding total annual contributions.

This asset expansion compares to total superannuation holdings recorded at $4.3 trillion in June 2025.

The regulator did not provide executive commentary within its statistical release.

Total yearly contributions rose 12.8% to $236.3 billion, with employer contributions reaching $164.4 billion and personal member contributions expanding 21% to A$71.9 billion.

Total benefit payments increased by 12.1% year-on-year to reach $148.2 billion across Australia.

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority stated that A$3.4 trillion of the total asset base remains held within APRA-regulated funds.

The regulatory agency highlighted that overall benefit outflows were primarily driven by $82.5 billion in lump-sum payments and $65.7 billion in pension payments over the period.
