Sun Silver (ASX:SS1) commenced its 2026 drill program at the flagship Maverick Silver Project, signalling a major shift toward rapid project de-risking and resource expansion.
In an operational ramp-up, the company has mobilised four diamond core drill rigs to the site, partnering with experienced local Nevada contractors, Wayfinder Drilling and Scion Drilling, to execute the multi-front campaign.
The program is designed to deliver on three primary objectives: resource upgrading, lateral growth, and metallurgical advancement.
A key focus involves intensive infill drilling within the existing mineral resource.
The technical work aims to bolster geological confidence and facilitate the conversion of current estimates into the more rigorous JORC indicated classification, a critical milestone for future economic studies.
Simultaneously, "step-out" drilling is targeting high-grade hinge-zone mineralisation to the north-west, seeking to prove the continuity of the system beyond its known boundaries.
Beyond resource definition, the diamond core rigs are tasked with extracting vital samples for ongoing metallurgical test work.
The findings will underpin upcoming processing studies and mine permitting applications.
Managing Director Andrew Dornan emphasised that having four rigs turning simultaneously positions Maverick as a leading US silver asset.
Sun Silver is accelerating its timeline to transform this Nevada-based discovery into a world-class mining operation.
