Shares in Star Entertainment Group (ASX:SGR) increased by 7.7% on Oct. 29 afternoon after the business confirmed it is engaging with WhiteHawk Capital Partners.
This development follows a regulatory penalty of $260 million handed down to the gaming and hotel operator after compliance failures regarding anti-money laundering controls.
The company stated that paying the fine in instalments will not threaten its status as a going concern.
The size and timing of the financial penalty trigger a review event under the company debt facility with WhiteHawk Capital Partners, but Star stated it remains confident the funding line will stay open.
Following the announcement, the Star Entertainment Group share price was up at $0.14.
The group operates major hospitality and entertainment properties across Australia, including locations in Sydney, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast.
Management continues to navigate ongoing corporate restructuring and financial remediation efforts to stabilise its balance sheet.
