Siren Gold hit by New Zealand permit rejection
Siren Gold (ASX:SNG) has received a regulatory setback in New Zealand after its application for a crucial mining permit was rejected.
The company confirmed that New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals declined the minerals mining permit application submitted by its subsidiary, Sams Creek Gold.
The decision comes at a critical juncture for the project. Siren Gold noted that its existing Sams Creek Exploration Permit (EP40338) recently expired at the completion of its term on March 25.
While the pending mining permit application had technically kept the company’s legal interest in the gold project live up until this point, the regulatory rejection leaves the future of the asset up in the air.
Siren Gold management is currently reviewing the formal decision from NZPaM and assessing its legal and strategic options.
This includes evaluating whether the company has a potential right of appeal. Despite the initial denial, the door has not been completely shut on the venture.
Siren Gold reassured shareholders that its other exploration projects remain entirely unaffected by the ruling.
The company intends to reallocate resources and increase its operational focus on these alternative sites.
At the time of reporting, Siren Gold’s share price was $0.058.
