Sierra Nevada Gold launches major drilling at As Safra Project
Sierra Nevada Gold (ASX:SNX) commenced a high-impact drilling campaign at its wholly owned As Safra Copper-Gold Project.
The company mobilised three drill rigs—one reverse circulation and two diamond core units—to the site, with boring beginning just hours after the formal granting of exploration licences via Royal Decree.
The Phase 1 programme involves 5,000m of planned drilling designed to test high-priority targets identified through a combination of ancient workings and modern geophysical and geochemical data.
The project, managed through SNX’s subsidiary Arabian American Minerals, spans a broad mineralised footprint, suggesting district-scale potential for the copper-gold system.
Executive Director Peter Moore described the commencement as a "defining moment", noting that the transition from licence acquisition to active exploration was accelerated by the support of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
The six-week drilling programme aims to validate the site's high-grade potential, with the first assay results anticipated by the end of May.
As SNX establishes itself as one of the most agile explorers in the Kingdom's Round 9 licensing process, investors are closely watching this strategic asset.
