  • Renascor Resources has produced battery-grade purified spherical graphite at its demonstration plant.
  • The technical validation supports the commercial scale-up of its eco-friendly purification process.
  • The milestone advances the company's strategy to become a major supplier of graphite outside China.

Renascor Resources (ASX:RNU) has produced battery-grade purified spherical graphite using its hydrofluoric acid-free process at its demonstration plant.

The milestone follows recent cost studies estimating purification operating expenses at US$459 per tonne.

"We have moved beyond laboratory-scale validation and have now confirmed that our HF-free purification process works at demonstration scale, achieving 99.97% carbon purity through the plant’s integrated purification circuit," the company said in a statement.

The facility operates with support from a $5 million grant awarded under the Australian Government's Critical Minerals Programme.

The market update reinforces the company's project timeline as it moves closer to full commercial operations.

Following the announcement, the Renascor Resources share price was unchanged at $0.057.

The company is developing the Siviour Battery Anode Material Project located in South Australia.

Renascor Resources stated that the operation is designed to deliver a vertically integrated source of graphite for global electric vehicle markets.
