Proteomics International secures Australian patent

Proteomics International (ASX:PIQ) received a notice of acceptance from IP Australia for a patent covering its PromarkerEndo blood test, which is designed to diagnose endometriosis.
This notice of acceptance represents a shift towards securing granted patent protection in the local healthcare market for the company's diagnostic technology.
“The acceptance of this patent is another major achievement and further validation of the novelty and commercial potential of PromarkerEndo,” said Proteomics International Managing Director David Morris.
The patent covers methods for diagnosing endometriosis using specific protein biomarkers to guide treatment selection and is expected to remain in force until March 2041, subject to grant and maintenance requirements.
The company stated that this technology aims to address the global need for improved diagnostic tools, as endometriosis typically takes an average of 7 years to diagnose and affects one in nine women.
Following the announcement, the Proteomics International share price was unchanged at $0.17.
Proteomics International continues to advance its broader commercialisation strategy for its proprietary diagnostics by expanding its intellectual property footprint across major international jurisdictions.
The company previously secured patent protections for its PromarkerEndo technology in other regions, including Japan and the United States, as it seeks to address the growing demand for non-invasive diagnostic solutions.
