Parkway and Hitachi partner for brine concentration
Parkway (ASX:PWN) has executed a binding memorandum of understanding with technology firm Hitachi to establish a collaboration focused on industrial water treatment.
The partnership aims to co-develop and deploy state-of-the-art, ultra-high brine concentration systems, designated as the Parkway Hitachi – Ultra-High Brine Concentration Systems.
The collaboration arrives at a critical juncture for the wastewater management sector.
Traditional brine processing in large-scale industrial settings is notoriously constrained by its complexity, high energy requirements, and prohibitive costs, which historically limit the commercial feasibility of resource recovery.
To address these challenges, the initial phase of the partnership will focus on engineering a standardised, modular product range designed for efficient deployment, while customised systems will be evaluated for larger, bespoke engineering projects.
A central element of the agreement involves deploying these newly developed PH-UHBCS solutions into key industrial markets.
The technology will be integrated into Parkway’s flagship QBS Brine Management Complex Project.
Funding for these rollouts is expected to involve various project-based financial structures, which will be finalised under separate, definitive agreements.
By leveraging Parkway’s extensive wastewater technology portfolio—supported by the Parkway Centre for Brine Technologies and Victoria University—alongside Hitachi’s world-class engineering capabilities, the companies plan to scale their operations.
