NZME (ASX:NZM) has agreed to acquire print plant equipment from Stuff's Petone facility in an up to NZ$15 million deal.

The acquired Petone machinery is approximately one-third the size of the company's current plant and operates more efficiently.

"The Petone plant equipment is more modern, well maintained and right-sized for our current and future requirements," said NZME Chief Publishing Officer Matt Wilson.

The company stated that installation costs will span two years, with cash flow payback expected within three years alongside NZ$7 million in annual savings.

Following the announcement, the NZME share price was unchanged at $0.88.

NZME currently maintains a site lease at Ellerslie that supports ongoing printing operations through to the end of 2028.

The business expects to provide additional operational details during its half-year financial results release later this month.
