Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) announced a major collaboration with Australian data centre partners to target a 2-gigawatt buildout of local artificial intelligence factories by 2027.

The massive expansion aims to keep pace with rapid enterprise adoption across the Pacific region as local firms scale up generative AI workloads.

"AI factories turn energy into intelligence—the essential resource of the AI economy," said Nvidia Vice President of Global AI Clouds and Infrastructure Ecosystem Raj Mirpuri.

The initiative brings together key infrastructure providers like NextDC (ASX:NXT), AirTrunk, Firmus, and Megaport (ASX:MP1) to expand land, power, and shell capacity.

Following the announcement, the Nvidia share price was unchanged at $223.67 during early trading.

The company stated that the buildout will support multiple generations of its hardware and expand access to its Nemotron open models.

Software leaders like Atlassian (NASDAQ:TEAM) are already leveraging this local infrastructure to train language models and speech applications.
