Nev Power and Shelley Robertson to lead Strike Energy
Strike Energy (ASX:STX) announced a leadership overhaul, appointing former Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) powerhouse Nev Power as Chair and Shelley Robertson as CEO.
The changes, effective immediately, signal a strategic pivot for the Perth Basin’s largest operator as it seeks to reverse a prolonged slump in its share price.
Power, a titan of the WA resources sector, succeeds John Poynton, who retires after six years at the helm.
Robertson – the former COO at Fortescue and former energy head at mineral resources – replaces Peter Stokes, whose tenure concluded after just 11 months.
The restructuring also sees the departure of director Mary Hackett, part of a board downsizing aimed at streamlining operations for the $414 million company.
Despite boasting a formidable portfolio, including producing the Walyering field and the South Erregulla gas-to-power project, Strike’s valuation has languished near multi-year lows, trading at 12 cents compared to its 50-cent highs during the 2022 consolidation boom.
"Strike is well-positioned to supply vital, on-demand electricity and gas into the West Australian market," Power noted, emphasising a dual focus on production and aggressive exploration.
Robertson echoed this sentiment, stating her "unwavering intention" to deliver existing projects and transform Strike into a pivotal, integrated energy business.
At the time of reporting, Strike Energy’s share price was $0.12.
