  • The bank's leadership restructuring follows prior executive appointments intended to ensure a smooth transition without market disruption.
  • The lender is reallocating senior portfolios to digital, AI, and transformation divisions to support ongoing technological evolution.

National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) announced two executive departures, reducing its leadership team by one.

COO Les Matheson will retire on Sept. 30, while Patrick Wright will transition to retirement in 2027.

"The organisation is extremely grateful for the significant contributions that Patrick and Les have made to modernising and strengthening NAB's technology and to our customer focus, products and services," said National Australia Bank CEO Andrew Irvine.

To manage the transition, Pete Steel and Shane Conway will absorb the departing portfolios.

Following the announcement, the NAB share price was down at $40.98 as the bank targets stability.

The bank has focused on expanding digital capabilities through subsidiaries like Ubank.
