Mayne Pharma secures $14.4M legal cost payout
Mayne Pharma Group (ASX:MYX) secured a multimillion-dollar windfall, confirming the receipt of $14.4 million from Cosette Pharmaceuticals.
The multi-million-dollar payment was executed in accordance with strict orders handed down by the Supreme Court of New South Wales on May 29.
The substantial sum serves as a full recovery of Mayne Pharma’s extensive legal costs, expenses related to its formal application for costs, and accumulated interest.
This financial resolution marks yet another major milestone in a bitter, ongoing legal battle that dates back to June 2025.
The initial litigation was commenced by Mayne Pharma following Cosette’s purported termination of a scheme implementation deed, which both pharmaceutical entities had originally signed in February 2025.
The legal tide turned heavily in October 2025 when the Supreme Court delivered a decisive judgement in favour of Mayne Pharma, completely dismissing all of Cosette’s claims.
The court issued an adverse costs order against Cosette, legally compelling the company to foot Mayne Pharma’s legal bill.
While the $14.4 million payment settles the immediate cost orders, the broader legal saga is not entirely over. Mayne Pharma noted that Cosette formally appealed the landmark October 2025 judgement earlier this year in January.
The high-stakes appeal was recently heard in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Court of Appeal, on June 2-3. The bench has currently reserved its decision.
At the time of reporting, Mayne Pharma Group’s share price was $2.30.
