Maritana Minerals (ASX:MRT) commenced early works at its Black Swan Processing Hub with a committed expenditure of $25 million.

This programme follows the completion of the 2.5 million tonnes per annum front-end engineering design phase for the gold project.

Contractor GR Engineering Services (ASX:GNG) will deliver the 20-week programme by early fourth quarter of 2026.

The works cover earthworks, demolition, detailed engineering, and procurement of critical long-lead equipment ahead of full construction.

Following the announcement, the Maritana Minerals share price was down at $0.615.

The gold developer recently changed its name from Horizon Minerals in April to align with its Kalgoorlie foundations.

The company stated that the project targets first gold production in the second half of 2027.
