Manhattan Gold (ASX:MHC) has commenced a maiden 4,000-metre reverse circulation drilling programme at the Hook Lake Project in Nunavut, Canada.
The exploration programme marks the first modern drilling conducted at the Canadian project site in over 30 years.
The company stated that the drilling aims to confirm historical results last recorded in 1988 at the Jaws resource.
This resource holds an estimated 3.4 million tonnes at 2.38 grammes per tonne of gold, totalling approximately 285,000 ounces.
Following the announcement, the Manhattan Gold share price was unchanged at $0.023.
The wider exploration strategy also includes channel sampling to assess historical gold occurrences across newly acquired mineral claims.
The business remains focused on tier-one jurisdictions, holding additional resource exploration assets, including the Tibooburra Gold Project in New South Wales.
