Macquarie Technology Group (ASX:MAQ) has exercised a call option to purchase a Sydney land parcel for $240 million.
The transaction follows the successful completion of a subdivision process stemming from an option agreement signed in July 2025.
The company stated that the 34,200-square-metre site will be funded using existing cash reserves and corporate debt.
The business plans to build an engineering campus co-located within a 200-megawatt data centre featuring advanced air cooling.
Following the announcement, the Macquarie Technology Group share price was unchanged at $84.50.
The company stated that the project will offer Macquarie University researchers practical experience in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
To finance construction, the business reported that it is exploring capital recycling of existing assets and development partnerships.
