MA Financial buys retail stake for $327.5M
- MA Financial Group bought a 50% stake in The Glen Shopping Centre for $327.5 million.
- The acquisition brings the firm's total retail property transactions in the second half of 2026 to $500 million.
- The deal supports the launch of its new retail fund targeting over $500 million in commercial property assets.
MA Financial Group (ASX:MAF) has secured a 50% interest in Melbourne's The Glen Shopping Centre for $327.5 million.
The purchase builds on the company's recent $170 million combined acquisitions of Taigum Square Shopping Centre and the ECQ XL retail park.
"This underscores our strong belief in the structural and macroeconomic tailwinds supporting Australian retail real estate, including population-led demand growth, resilient consumer expenditure, severely constrained supply and lower retail floorspace relative to global peers," said MA Financial Joint CEO Julian Biggins.
The company established the MA Large Format Retail Fund using the ECQ XL asset as seed capital, targeting total portfolio holdings above $500 million.
Following the announcement, the MA Financial Group share price was down at $4.93.
The financial services provider managed $15.5 billion in total assets as of June 30.
The group also oversees $193 billion in managed loans alongside $135 billion in historical corporate advisory transactions.
