Litchfield Minerals (ASX:LMS) has commenced its first diamond drilling campaign at the Oonagalabi Project, targeting two high-priority intrusive zones, including the "Bomb-Diggity" target, which is interpreted as a potential heat, fluid, and metal source for a large-scale copper-zinc-gold system.
The 1,000-metre program, co-funded by the Northern Territory Geological Survey, aims to test both the Bomb-Diggity intrusive body and the elongate "Magnetic Finger" in the Oonagalabi Main Zone, where earlier drilling revealed gold-silver-bismuth mineralisation associated with intense magnetite alteration.
Phase 1 reverse circulation drilling had identified two distinct mineralisation styles: an earlier copper-zinc system hosted in calc-silicate units, and a later gold-silver-bismuth overprint, potentially representing an intrusion-related event analogous to Tennant Creek-style IOCG deposits.
The Bomb-Diggity target, along with multiple newly recognised intrusions in a high-magnetic structural hinge zone, is considered a likely focal point for repeated mineralising events.
Litchfield believes that the combination of these intrusive targets and nearby VTEM conductors significantly expands the corridor's potential to host a major mineral system, marking a critical step toward what the company hopes will be a Tier-1 discovery.
At the time of reporting, Litchfield Minerals' share price was $0.72.
