The executive addition contrasts with previous phases focused primarily on early exploration, as the company now transitions towards commercial project feasibility.
Leeuwin Executive Chairman, Christopher Piggott, said, "Rubei brings a rare combination of large-scale operational leadership and genuine project development capability, built over more than 20 years across some of Western Australia’s most demanding gold and iron ore operations."
The role covers the Marda Gold Project, which holds a mineral resource of 378,600 ounces across granted mining leases.
The business stated that the appointment will strengthen development capability along a pathway to gold production.
Following the announcement, the Leeuwin Metals share price was down at $0.24.
Ma brings over 20 years of mining engineering experience across gold and iron ore operations at companies including Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) and Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN).
