European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde says "there is never a good time to leave" but that she wants "to have the freedom of speech, the freedom of expression, and the freedom to engage on matters that are not monetary policy matters." She made the comments at a news conference in Frankfurt after earlier announcing that she will leave her role as head of the ECB in February. Her term was due to expire in October 2027.
