KPMG global general counsel exits leadership role

  • KPMG International global general counsel Anne Collins has stepped down from her role following a broader senior leadership reshuffle.
  • The executive departure coincides with the formal transition of incoming CEO Gary Wingrove taking office.
  • The departure follows ongoing parliamentary scrutiny in Australia regarding partners' alleged misuse of confidential client information.

Sydney-based legal chief Anne Collins has departed her role as global general counsel at KPMG International.

The leadership change comes as Gary Wingrove formally steps into his new role as chief executive of KPMG International.

"Anne Collins has retired from her position as global general counsel as part of planned leadership transitions," stated KPMG International in an official update.

Both Wingrove and Collins recently appeared before an Australian parliamentary committee investigating the alleged misuse of confidential client data by partners to secure audit contracts.

The organisational shift marks a major executive transition, though because KPMG operates as a private network of member firms, there is no public stock ticker or share price impact to report.

Collins joined the accounting network in 2010 after a two-decade career at law firm Ashurst and served as general counsel for KPMG Australia from 2010 to 2016.

She subsequently served as KPMG International's global legal chief for 10 years starting in 2016 before stepping down this week.
