John Sams takes over as CEO of KPMG Australia, effective immediately, following a period of leadership restructuring.

The appointment follows the departure of former leadership amid internal challenges, with Sams having served as chief financial officer since October 2025 and COO since June 2026.

"I am prepared to be courageous, take the tough decisions and lead the changes we need to set us on the right path," said KPMG CEO John Sams.

The firm stated that the new leadership holds a mandate from the board to strengthen governance, improve institutional confidence, and implement a comprehensive action plan.
