Javelin Minerals starts diamond drilling at Coogee Project
- Javelin Minerals has started a diamond drilling programme targeting two deep gold and copper deposits at its Coogee Project.
- The company will drill two holes up to 1,000m deep over five to six weeks, co-funded by the Western Australian government.
- The exploration aims to discover the underlying magnetic source of surface gold and copper mineralisation near Kalgoorlie.
Javelin Minerals (ASX:JAV) has commenced a five- to six-week diamond drilling programme to test two major gold-copper targets at its Coogee Project located 55km southeast of Kalgoorlie.
The company is targeting two untested magnetic anomalies at depths between 800m and 1,000m, located directly beneath historical shallow mineralisation at Coogee North and Coogee West.
"It's great to finally be underway with the drilling of these two ambitious holes," said Javelin Minerals General Manager of Resources and Exploration Mark Cossom.
The state government is co-funding the project through the exploration incentive scheme, with Kalgoorlie-based Westralian Diamond Drilling contracted to execute the campaign.
The exploration programme seeks to locate the primary source of the system to potentially expand on existing JORC resources.
Following the announcement, the Javelin Minerals share price was unchanged at $0.089.
The Coogee Project site holds a defined JORC resource of 3.6 million tonnes at 1.08 grammes per tonne for 127,000 ounces of gold.
The project area also hosts a copper resource of 1 million tonnes at 0.41% for 4,122 tonnes of copper on a granted mining lease.
