Janus Electric (ASX:JNS) has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with North American terminal operator ConGlobal to launch a 20-truck conversion pilot programme in Texas.

The agreement marks an operational expansion for the heavy vehicle electrifications business beyond California.

Janus Electric Managing Director and CEO, Ben Hutt said, "The ConGlobal agreement represents an important step in our North American expansion, providing an opportunity to establish truck conversion, servicing and battery-swapping capabilities through an experienced operator with an extensive US network, rather than building our own facilities at every location."

Under the partnership, ConGlobal mechanics would earn Janus certification to perform diesel-to-electric truck conversions, while selected facilities host battery-swapping operations and perform ongoing vehicle maintenance.

The company stated that the initial 20-truck conversion pilot at the Fort Worth Intermodal Logistics Centre in Alliance, Texas, is intended to lead to a phased national rollout across ConGlobal's 31 US depot locations.

The proposed expansion aims to establish charging, conversion, and servicing infrastructure across existing logistics corridors.

Following the announcement, the Janus Electric share price was up at $0.50.

The business focuses on converting heavy diesel vehicles to zero-emission battery electric systems using proprietary swap-and-charge technology designed for fleet logistics.
