Australian heavy-vehicle innovator Janus Electric (ASX:JNS) has achieved a regulatory breakthrough in its North American expansion, securing its first California hybrid and zero-emission truck and bus voucher incentive project vouchers.
Valued at US$112,500 per vehicle, the vouchers—delivered via authorised dealer Electric Vehicle Choice—confirm the eligibility of Janus' proprietary conversion system under the California Air Resources Board guidelines.
Janus has entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Energy One Solutions International.
The partnership aims to deploy automated battery swap and charging stations for Class 8 freight, specifically targeting the high-traffic Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
While the 24-month agreement remains subject to definitive contracts and grant funding, it positions Janus as a key technology partner for large-scale decarbonisation projects in California’s trade corridors.
The company has solidified its runway, receiving a $1.4 million tax refund from the ATO and securing a $2.8 million R&D finance facility through its subsidiary, Janus Energy.
The funds will provide essential non-dilutive working capital as the firm navigates the termination of its previous South African distribution deal with EVUNI.
At the time of reporting, Janus Electric's share price was $0.15.
